Back to Cali

San Francisco, California.  After a cross-continental flight from Florida yesterday, it seems I am back in California again.  And this time apparently for good.  In coming weeks, I'll be starting a new job on the Central Coast and will post an update here as that develops. 

In the meantime, if you are following this season of 24, keep an eye out for Rick Schimmelpfenneg and me (Arlo Hemphill) this coming Monday in the showdown scene at the Starkwood complex.

  Rick plays a Starkwood Op and I'm a Navy Seal, in camo and face paint.  If you want to pick either of us out, you may need to employ your pause button and a magnifying glass.  The scene is dark and judging from its beginnings in last week's episode, one guy in camo and face paint looks like them all...

Also, if you haven't yet caught the episode of Spike TV's 1,000 Ways to Die "Death Gets Busy" - you have another opportunity.  Watch me die of cocoa inhalation this Sunday night (April 5th) at 7:00pm.

The Snows of Los Angeles

Los Angeles, California. Towards the end of this past week, I made the final pull to move the rest of my stuff down from San Francisco to Los Angeles. The weather in San Francisco was horrendous, making my moving day extremely wet and unpleasant. However, I got it done and took off into the stormy weather by U-Haul. Driving south of San Jose, the weather thankfully cleared and driving was pretty good from there out.

At about 2am, I went over the 6000 ft. pass on Route 5 that brings you into Los Angeles. Even in the middle of the night, this was spectacular! All of the mountains were covered in snow and shimmering in the moonlight. It was very hard to believe this was LA! The next day, I had a couple of auditions in Hollywood and was

once again amazed to see the snow covered mountains rising above the city to the east. I have been told that this is an unusally cold winter for LA, so perhaps this explains

my surprise of seeing snowy peaks rising behind the Hollywood sign? All of this is just further instilling in me that LA is not the city popularly portrayed by the media, but rather a whole universe of micro-cities, wilderness areas and endless possibilities! More Yellow Aliens

San Francisco, California. I am back up in the Bay Area for a couple of days and today did another shoot with Tom Galt as one of his yellow aliens in the Four Twenty-One. It is rainy and cold here - I can't wait to return to L.A.!

The Four Twenty-One

San Francisco, California. Tuesday and Thursday of this week were spent on the set of Tom Galt's The Four Twenty-One, an Indy Science Fiction Flick. My character's name is Tek and basically, I am an alien thug. These aliens appear like normal people except to very special humans with the genetic trait to see a broader spectrum of colors. To those people, we aliens appear yellow. So, for theatrical purposes, this meant two days of work in a good coating of yellow body paint!! Check out the video...

Elizabeth Studies Sharks

Alameda, California. This past July, my friends Rob and Elizabeth Eubanks spent several weeks in the Bay Area as part of a summer-long RV trip across the country. We had some great times together before they headed down to San Diego, where Elizabeth joined a NOAA shark research cruise for a couple of weeks. Today, I stumbled across an article in Palm Beach's Sun Sentinel, focused on Elizabeth and the sharks! It also mentiones yours truly as her source for finding out about the opportunity.
